Lourans Mikhail's artistic journey is one of diversity, shaped by the life experiences of an Assyrian born in Baghdad, Iraq, immigrating and growing up in Chicago, IL., and served honorably for 13 years as a U.S. Marine. Lourans is a multi-faceted creative currently living in San Diego, CA., and works through the mediums of sculpture, painting, murals, and graphic design to explore different perspectives and challenge the complex narratives of socioeconomics, culture, politics, and race.

Having graduated from The Art Institute of California, San Diego, with a degree in graphic design, Lourans decided that a career in graphic design was not for him, and decided to focus on creating art first as a means of therapy, which then turned into a full-time career. Lourans' artwork has been exhibited in the New Americans Museum and numerous galleries across San Diego, Los Angeles, Chicago, Memphis, and Chattanooga. He has contributed extensively to public art projects in locations such as San Diego, Anaheim, Memphis, New Orleans, and Chattanooga. His work has been the subject of television interviews with various news outlets and publications, including The Voyager, The Chatter, and Pulse Magazine.

Lourans Mikhail was selected to participate in a 4 week-long international artist residency at Chateau Orquevaux, in France, in April 2022, allowing him to immerse himself in his artistic journey. Following this remarkable opportunity, Lourans continued to hone his craft as an artist-in-residence at Stove Works in Chattanooga, TN. In winter 2023 Lourans attended an artist mentorship program on the island of Minorca Spain with Quarantine Events. He has already been selected for three other artists-in-residencies that will take him to North Carolina, Pasadena CA, and Ireland in the first half of 2024. Lourans is also working on his second solo show scheduled to open on August 2nd, 2024 in San Diego, CA., at Thumb Print Gallery.
